Guest Room Concepts

If you caught my Insta photo from yesterday... you know Bogey has been working hard on the guest bedroom. Welcome to the post that showcases the master's work. Also... how cute is my little bubby?

We're anxiously awaiting our guests for Labor Day weekend! Can't wait to see you Emily, Bren, and Evelyn. <3 In preparation for their visit, I Bogey went on a little shopping trip over the weekend to redecorate one of the guest bedrooms.

I Bogey found this great bedding set at Marshalls over the weekend. I love the pattern and think it's perfect for a guest bedroom. We don't need heavy comforters here in Florida, so a quilt set is perfect to keep you comfortable!

To continue the color scheme of the bedroom, I Bogey went to Target to pick up a few things:

Bogey picked out the small Ancient Aqua one, but that isn't available online right now. I love also love the Distant Lime color!

This is a simple linen shade that will complement the bedding nicely! Great job, Bogey.

I'm a little obsessed with the pattern of the Threshold rug we chose - probably because we have it in a few other areas of the house as well. What up continuity!? You may remember it from this post.

The master then chose a final piece to put the bedroom together...the sailboat painting we already had at home! We found this at Marshall's a couple years ago - it was a steal and I think it's gorgeous. Bogey likes it for obvious reasons...

et voila!

What do you think about Bogey's interior decorating skills? Not bad for his first try!

Show off Your Best Smile with Truly Radiant!

This post brought to you by Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant. All opinions are 100% mine.
 photo 8459fa08-2d0c-4267-9059-1023f2c23b39_zps7c4cddb2.jpg
I have genetically bad teeth (thanks pop!), but that doesn't mean I can't have a great smile! With Truly Radiant I can protect my teeth while whitening for that bright smile everyone dreams of having. Today we're talking dental and ways to make your smile brighter than ever, but it's not just your smile that will make you confident! Here are some tips to bring out your inner radiance:
  • Be brave
  • Be you
  • Celebrate small victories
  • Smile bright!
I've found that the Truly Radiant line from Arm & Hammer gives me the boost I need to channel my inner radiance.

First there's the toothpaste: amazing. There's flouride in it to protect your enamel, but also a whitening agent. This toothpaste removes 100% more surface stains than regular toothpaste. This is great for me because I love my coffee! It's also the only toothpaste that is made out of baking soda, peroxide, and active calcium. Weew!

Then there's the Whitening Booster which offers 3X whitening agent than the leading whitening strip. It's awesome because all you need to do is put this booster on your toothbrush along with your toothpaste. I've tried the strips before but I'm pretty sure my surplus of saliva negates all whitening power! This is a great additive to your typical routine.

.......then there's the toothbrush! If you don't already know, it's best to have an electric toothbrush instead of the standard bristles. Needless to say, my old toothbrush is a little sad and lonely! This new toothbrush totally wins over my old one.

You should definitely check out these products. What tips do you have for bringing out your inner radiance? Share in the comments below!

Sunning in South Beach (Miami Part 3)

Continuing the Miami saga (post one & post two) with this post! There is SO MUCH to do in South Beach. Most of what you'll do will cost $100 - I'll start there. haha  It is very expensive so get prepared for that when you're planning your next trip! Luckily, we saved money on our rental. Most hotels cost anywhere between $250 - $400 per night. We only spent about $87 per night per couple - for a full condo! Following up tomorrow with a showcase of our beautiful little "home away from home!"

Here's a few photos of our fun out in SoBe!

Airbnb Lovin' (Miami Part 2)

If you read my post from yesterday, you know my first experience using Airbnb was an interesting one. I needed to cancel our reservation before things got weirder with John/Chris. I contacted Airbnb on Twitter (@Airbnb) to see if I could get some help with my situation:

<<This is where my love grows for brands that utilize social media well>>

Yes I was probably being a bit dramatic...but still - this needed to get solved! Within an hour, I had been contacted by a representative to assist me. Mia was fantastic & completely made me feel comfortable after my experience. She even helped me book with our host, Elizabeth & gave me 20% more to use toward that booking since it was more expensive.

During that time, I used Airbnb in the right way

1. Start at the home page. Where do you want to go? Enter your check-in/out dates and # of guests.

2. You then get to see all of the options based on your selections. If you have a specific budget you need to keep under, you can choose that on this screen. You can also select whether you'd like to book a shared room, private room, or the entire place!

3. Click on a place you're interested in to see photos and reviews from previous guests. You'll then click "Contact host" and send them a message to see if the dates are actually available. Sometimes the calendars aren't up to date. What's awesome is that the system saves your message for the next time you contact another host! You'll want to reach out to a few different hosts just in case your first choice isn't available.

4. See how you jive with the host and then *if comfortable* you can click "Request to Book" - the host will then accept you and you will be charged. I absolutely loved my conversation with Elizabeth and she made me feel completely comfortable. Here's her first message -

5. You'll receive instructions from your host via email or Airbnb message.

Be sure to check out my post tomorrow recapping our wild time in South Beach!

Wacky Wednesday Story (Miami Part 1)

Couldn't think of a more fitting title for this post because this story is for sure wacky. This is part 1 of my Miami series. Be on the lookout for Part 2 and 3 in the next couple of days!

When planning our trip to Miami, we decided that we wanted to use Airbnb. I had never used the site, but Nichole said it was cost-effective and definitely worth a shot! Let me start by saying this story in no way reflects my feelings on Airbnb as a whole. I loved my experience with the site and our host... after this encounter.

I'll admit that part of this issue could have been solved with me being a bit more educated with the site, but it had a lot to do with the general creepy/weirdness of this particular host. When using Airbnb, you're supposed to just message multiple hosts to broaden the reach. If you put all of your eggs in one basket, you may miss out on the opportunity all together. However, what I did was just book with the host for my selected dates and then had conversations with the host.

The conversations started off normal, but got increasingly confusing and uncomfortable. If I can offer one piece of advice to hosts on Airbnb, it would be to use your real freaking name! I was already a bit nervous that I wasn't going to be staying at a chain hotel. It was someone's actual house. I'm renting from a person, not a company that has rules and regulations in place! Dude says his name is John on the website... but signs his name Chris in the messages.

Side note... how weird is it that he has both of our significant others' names... AH!

Here are a few screenshots... you'll see how creeped out I was about the entire situation. Also, one more thing - if I do not know you or if you are not 90+ years old, do not call me hun.

Good times.

Don't worry though. This entire situation does get resolved! Check out the blog tomorrow to see how Airbnb handled this in Miami Part 2. Have you ever encountered internet weirdness like this?? Tell me about it in the comments below!

They're finally here! #Betabrand

Way back when I was in Nashville in April, I learned about Betabrand. It's a pretty cool fashion brand that offers wacky ideas for clothing, but they're all so unique! Thanks to the Friends & Family discount we received at the conference, I pre-ordered a pair of the Dress Pant Yoga Pants (leggings)! Since they are in such high demand, it would take a little longer for the pants to be made (specifically for me!) and then shipped. I didn't realize it would take 3 months, but let me tell you - these were worth the wait!

I can't wait for the cooler Florida months so I can wear these to work. What's great is that you can dress them up or dress them down! I'm definitely bringing these babies with me when I head up North for the holidays. They are SO comfortable!

Betabrand is unique in the fact that their models are their consumers and their designers are their consumers. I can't wait to get internet famous for my photo of my new pants! I'm going to do a more creative one...but I need to get a little better at yoga. For now, this photo will have to do! Check out my new shoes too! You can find them in brown, here. I got my black pair at Versona Accessories!

Have you ever heard of Betabrand? Which crazy/fun item would you order from their site?

Welcome in!

Hey lovely people! Happy Wednesday. When preparing for our housewarming party last month, we decided that we needed to add some "us" to the entryway. Afterall, it's the first thing people see when we welcome them into our home! With a few items from Target and Pier1, we've got a good thing going! The best part? This mirror came with the best instructions I have ever seen.

Missing a little something above the table...

This runner is perrrrrrfect!

OBSESSED with the detailing of this table!

"In all the world, there is but one you!"

The best directions to install the mirror!

Et voila!

Weekend Download

What a busy weekend we had! First of all, Johnno finally came home after a long three weeks of traveling. I was so excited to see him and so was Bogey! Friday night was IZEA Loco though, so our family reunion was cut short so I could tear it up at Colonial Lanes. My team was "Bowl Down for What" so naturally we dressed up as the brilliant minds that created the hit jam and those that made the video into the wacky 3:37 minutes it is. If you've never seen or heard of DJ Snake, here he is:
source, source, source

Basically the same thing

Saturday morning we headed out to Wekiva Springs for some much needed sunlight recovery & celebrating Mealsie and Tiffancy. Friday was a bit rough on the liver, but it was a blast! We played volleyball, swam, and soaked up the sun. Also, Lynda made everyone want a GoPro! (guilty) We've affectionately called it the #selfiestick.

The rest of my weekend was spent with Stephanie preparing to host Kate's baby shower! We absolutely loved hosting for our sweet friend. Baby Wyatt is one lucky boy! I'll be doing a whole post on the shower, but here's a taste of what's to come!

Hope you all had a weekend! Did you do anything fun?

Travel Itch: St. Kitts

This post brought to you by St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino. All opinions are 100% mine.

(I didn't plan on rhyming in the title - but it happened so ... there you go!)

If you know me, I've always got the itch to travel. As the daughter of a pilot, that will happen! So where am I itching to visit this time? St. Kitts of course! We traveled to the caribbean for our honeymoon and loved it. St. Kitts has so much to offer. You can hike, zip-line through the rainforest, and of course - golf! If you're the type of person that wants to simply relax and have your every need catered to, then you'll have to check out St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino! Not only is it gorgeous, but it has everything you need for a great "off the beaten path" vacation.  There's even a championship golf course, the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, right on the property - J would go nuts! He can spend the day practicing while I'm relaxing at this fantastic pool and maybe hop over to the ocean, too!

You can take advantage of the St. Kitts Marriott Super Sand Dollars offer: stay 4 nights and get 3 nights free! Yes, you read that right: 3 free nights! That gives you so many more days to fill with activities like snorkling, spa time, and one of my favorites, shopping. Speaking of shopping... I'd obviously have to pick up a few essentials for beaching in St. Kitts! Check out my wish list:

This is a view I could definitely get used to!
